Clinic warned for failing to comply with regulations

A REHABILITATION centre for drug addicts and alcoholics in North Somerset has been issued with a formal warning and told it must improve or face further action.

The Care Quality Commission warning follows an unannounced visit to New- roads Rehabilitation Centre in Wrington in April to follow up an earlier inspection.

The centre provides treatment and rehabilitation services for up to 11 people, including those withdrawing from an addiction to drugs or alcohol.

At the latest visit, inspectors found that the registered provider, Kevin Duhaney, was still failing to comply with two government regulations relating to the recruitment, training and supervision of staff.

But Mr Duhaney told the Post last night that he has now taken advice from a former CQC inspector and is implementing a more robust system.

He said: "The warning was not a true reflection of the service we provide. It wasn't proportionate or fair, so I brought a consultant in to have a look at the overall picture.

"We have got issues we need to work on, but the warning was never about the actual care we provide to clients."
